About Imbina
Imbina is born from our mother’s memory.
Imbina means to combine, to unite, to merge (form and feeling, past and present) into a single, living whole. This inner meaning gave us a vision to blend two different cultures, colors, imagination and educate that crafts need care. It honors imperfections as quiet signatures of authenticity, carrying the warmth of every maker’s hands.
Imbina’s Approach:
Our approach is simple but intentional. In a world increasingly defined by speed and uniformity, we choose to move differently. Imbina is built on a belief in slow creation, where time, care, and skill are essential, not optional. We work closely with artisans who carry generations of knowledge in their hands preserving techniques and crafts. We create in small batches, ensuring that each piece maintains its integrity and story. Each creation is meant to be lived with, quietly becoming part of daily life, while holding a deeper connection to where it came from.
Imbina is also about translation. We reinterpret rich Indian traditions into forms that feel natural within European interiors and closets, pieces that are refined, wearable, and enduring. Through this, we hope to create not just objects, but relationships: between people and what they own, between makers and those who value their work.
Textiles, here, are not trends. They are companions.
It is how we remember, how we create, and how we move forward, together with you.
Founder
Echchha was born in a small town in Northeast India, where a deep connection to nature and handmade traditions was part of everyday life. Before moving to France 13 years ago with her husband, she worked as an Ayurvedic practitioner, a path rooted in balance, care, and respect for natural ways of living. That philosophy continued to shape on how she saw the world, and things around; understanding that true living and beauty is never rushed.
Starting over in a new country meant building everything from the ground up. A new language, a new culture, a new life to build. Yet what remained constant was her connection to what had always felt essential, natural materials, the human hand, and the quiet integrity of traditional craftsmanship.
Over time, she became aware of a subtle absence of natural textures and sensibilities of Indian textiles, the ones she had grown up with, were no longer part of her daily surrounding. Products from textiles were cared for, reused, repurposed, and passed on, carrying both utility and memory. This stood in contrast to a more convenience driven, disposable approach she encountered in homes, offices, and kitchens around her in Europe.
That absence became the beginning of Imbina.
What started as a personal longing slowly turned into a vision, to create space for Indian craftsmanship within European day to day life and wardrobes, in a way that feels both natural and relevant. Today, through Imbina, she brings that same feeling into the lives of those who choose to live with meaning and intention.
Imbina is not only a brand, but also a return to her roots.
Co-Founder
Prabhashkar, co-founder of Imbina, is a seasoned HR professional rooted in India, where he lives with his family. As Echchha’s elder brother, his connection to the brand is not just professional but deeply personal shaped by shared memories, values, and a quiet reverence for the cultural and artisanal traditions that have long been a part of their upbringing.
Growing up in a country where craft is not merely an object but a way of life, he developed an instinctive appreciation for the stories woven into everyday materials. His travels across Eastern Europe, far east till Japan, Moscow and the Middle East further expanded his worldview, offering glimpses into how different cultures engage with objects, what they preserve, what they discard, and what they pass on.
This reflection drew him closer to Echchha’s vision for Imbina. Together, they decided to build Imbina with a deep conviction that when craft is respected, preserved, and reimagined, it has the power to inspire more thoughtful, sustainable ways of living, while keeping alive the soul of tradition in a rapidly changing world.
